This week’s poem in the Catholic Poetry Room is by Marietta Lea B. Rosana.
Canticle of the Leaves
The trees raise their arms
in silent prayer
as twilight sings goodbye
to each falling leaf
The leaves now brown
and withered
kiss the earth
holding on
to its last embrace
Is there a ritual for letting go
just a smile to ease the pain,
or the promise of Heaven
uttered by the stars?
Like leaves we drift along
clinging to traces of laughter
or remnants of tears;
we gather memories
of lost…
