Shrine of the Little Flower

Description:

Shrine of the Little Flower is a Catholic Shrine located in Baltimore, Maryland

On Sunday, October 24, 1926, the Shrine of the Little Flower held it's first Mass in a little wooden chapel on the junction of Belair Road and Brendan Avenue. The parish's Golden Jubilee book in 1976 describes the modest structure this way: " It's one center isle was flanked by rows of attached chairs - six to a side. Plain glass globes ensconced ceiling fixtures that supplemented the natural light streaming in through the rows of plain glass windows lining the side walls. Between the paired windows were simply framed pictures of the Stations of the Cross.

An inspiring privilege was granted Little Flower on December 10, 1948. The Pilgrim Virgin Statue, blessed at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal, visited Little Flower on it's world tour to awaken all mankind to Our Lady's desire for the daily recitation of the Rosary, the wearing of the Scapular, and the world's consecration to her Immaculate Heart. More than 8,000 Little Flower parishioners and friends joined in this special devotion.
